Hey! Since writing this, I've discovered Daniel Erichsen and I resonate with his approach more, and he recommends, like you said, getting out of bed and facing the fear by doing something you enjoy to take away the fear of being awake. I've found his approach to be more helpful in the long run. But again, like you said, I stay in bed based on how I feel. I might read. Watch TV in bed. Etc. Although I haven't had panic or anxiety about sleep in some time now. I've written a follow up post to go over more of what I learned from Erichsen and Michael Norman. I think their approaches will be what finally cure me for good. I agree. It's been one of the hardest things I've ever done, and I've only had insomnia for about 2 years.
